SPORTS PHYSICALS

REMINDER:

ALL athletes must have a fully completed DIAA Sports physical on file with the Nurse's Office before they may participate in any sports activities INCLUDING tryouts. This physical is different from the regular school physical and is absoultely mandatory for anyone planning on trying out for a sport at Shue. If you do not have your physical you will be held out of tryouts until you have one. If you do not have a physical on file before scheduled tryouts end you will not be able to try out.

Sports physicals for the 2023-24 school year can be completed (and signed by a doctor) and submitted now.  You can find the required paperwork On the left side of our main page or at the following link:

Message from the Athletic Coordinator

All school rules remain in effect during school-sponsored events such as sporting events and students are subject to disciplinary action as per the District Code of Conduct. Any spectator, student or adult, not adhering to the DIAA Code of Conduct posted below may be asked to leave school grounds.

District basketball games will charge $5 admission for all spectators.  Ticket sales will be capped at a maximum of 130.  Once 130 tickets have been sold, no more tickets will be sold for that day.  Our gym is small and cannot hold more than that safely.

Activity buses are provided for student athletes only.  No siblings, parents, or other students are permitted to ride activity buses at any time.

For the safety of our athletes, all spectators, and to prevent damage to school property, parents are asked to park in marked spaces only and not along the roadway leading behind the school, up against the fence, or on any grass surface. Thank you for your cooperation.

If your family is attending the game please go home with them.  The bus is intended for students with no ride available. Laundry Instructions

When washing your uniform, it is important to follow the following instructions to make sure you don't accidentally damage your uniform.

1. If you are washing the uniform with other things, please make sure you check all the pockets to remove any pens, markers, lipstick, etc.  These are extremely difficult, if not impossible, stains to remove.
2. Cold water.
3. NO BLEACH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
4. Hang to dry, do not put uniforms in the dryer

If your uniform has a stain you should try Fels-Naptha soap to remove it.  It is extremely cheap (~$2.00) and is usually available in the laundry section of Wal-Mart.  It looks like a bar of soap.  It works very well and will not hurt your uniform.  Oxyclean is also an option but it is more expensive and less effective in my experience.

Please do not put your uniforms in the dryer.  The dryer can cause the material to pill, it can ruin the lettering/numbers on the uniform, it sets any stains so they are permanent.  In general, hanging the uniform up to dry makes it last about twice as long and keeps it looking nicer, longer.

Academic Eligibility

All players must be Academically eligible as per DIAA regulations for Middle School students.  For Winter Sports eligibility grades will be taken from MP 1 report cards and then again at the end of MP2.  Administration reserves the right to also take action at Interim reports for students who are in danger of failing.
